The Bell County Museum will host a fun sewing demonstration on Saturday, May 7, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. The event is free and refreshments will be served. The program is in conjunction with the museum?s new exhibit, Rural Texas Women at Work, 1930-1960.
Teenagers Ashly Payne (13) and Katelyn Heisch (17) will demonstrate four great sewing projects and sewing techniques. The girls will make pin cushions and table napkins while participants learn basic sewing skills. They will also demonstrate how to make pillowcase purses, and will provide how-to handouts for this project. In addition, they invite participants to bring an old t-shirt to be recycled into a reusable grocery or farmer?s market bag.
