The Bell County Museum will honor veterans who have served our country from World War II through Afghanistan on Saturday, November 9, 2013. The free event will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. at the museum; refreshments will be served, and a special military tool will be given to non-military attendees.
Speakers from WWII will be J.C. Alston, who was present at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1944, and Arnold Cook, who flew a C-47 over Normandy and dropped off members of the 87nd Airborne Division on June 6, 1944. Jim Ervi, who served in Korea, will talk about his experiences while there. John Pratt served in the Vietnam War and will present a short program about his service during that time. Lt. Col. Michael Jackson will speak about his service in the Afghan and Iraq wars, and the final speaker will be Lt. Col. Renita Menyhert, who will talk about the Cold War.
A short intermission will feature refreshments.
Stephanie Turnham, museum director, said, “We are really looking forward to listening to the stories these veterans will tell. Service to this great country in which we live is the highest calling, and we are proud of all of our veterans, both past and present.”
