The March 15 event will include a tour of the new exhibit, refreshments, a magician, a hobo, a sewing demonstration, and the doll beauty parlor. Girls will also be given a quilting starter kit to take home. Canned goods will be on view, and participants will get to meet Bell County’s own Kit Kittredge.
Author Harriet Brown created Kit Kittredge, a young girl growing up in 1930s America, and witnesses many of the seminal events of that decade, including the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. Similarly, Dorothea Lange, noted American photographer, traveled around the country photographing victims of these tumultuous events.
The event will be held on Saturday, March 15, from 10:00 a.m. until noon, and again from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. The event is $10.00 per child and includes refreshments and craft activities. Suggested age for daughters is ages 6-10. Girls are invited to bring their favorite doll to be “primped” at the event.
Pre-registration is required for the event. To sign up, please call 254.933.5243 or contact Stephanie at stephanie.turnham@co.bell.tx.us.
