Description

A book signing for Rick Miller’s newest book, Bloody Bell County, is set for Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 2:00 P.M., at the Bell County Museum. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

The new book is published by the Bell County Museum, and retails for 24.95. Museum members receive a 10 percent discount. In Bloody Bell County, Miller recounts episode after episode of 19th- and early 20th-century violence in the area. Included in the book are accounts of Native American fights and massacres that plagued early settlers; post-Civil War violence; capital murder cases; and the December 26, 1932 murder of 27-year -old Doyle Johnson in Temple by Bonnie and Clyde.

Rick Miller is the current Bell County Attorney, and is also a prolific writer of outlaw history. His book is based upon contemporary newspaper accounts, government records, census lists, and other primary sources to bring the most accurate, authentic information to light. “Unlike traditional county histories,” he said, “these are the stories that grab the reader’s attention and reveal the tragedies that accompany the triumphs of community growth.”
